We propose a route to know the two most representative places in Valencia regarding green spaces: Turia river gardens and Viveros Gardens. Our proposal is to meet them on segway! We will start with about 15 minutes of learning to become familiar with this funy way of transport, after which we will go to the gardens of the Turia River, a compulsory visit in the city. We say the Turia riverbed, but where is the river? Here there is not water! Actually this is the Turia old river. The current course is 3 km away. In 1957 the city suffered a terrible flood caused by a large drop cold. Since then, the old river bed is a great leisure and entertainment area of about 10 km with several bridges and different areas: the latest, the City of Arts and Sciences, the Guilliver, a large doll made of slides for children, the Palau de la Música, areas for jogging, football … Visit continues to Viveros Gardens or Real Gardens, the garden city’s most famous and one of the favorite places for valencian people, perfect for a walk, read, enjoy nature or just unwind from the city. Real Gardens because here it stood the now disappeared Real Palace, built as a leisure property or country house, (the name derives from the Arabic word “Rahal”). Stayed in many kings and queens when visiting Valencia, although it was never permanent royal residence. Popularly known as “Viveros” since in the early twentieth century they were used by the city council for tree nurseries. It is the green heart of Valencia, with a great botanical interest, both by its large size and the diversity of species. We will visit the promenade of palm trees, a beautiful rose garden with some 6,000 roses of different species, a beautiful birdhouse … Also the gardens are adorned with a number of sculptures, fountains and architectural elements removed from the city of Valencia.
